“Wild & Free”

Open September 9th -  October 29th

This years design is in memory of our parents Bill and Hartley Nelson

We have transformed our 12 acre corn field into a life size puzzle in nearly half a million corn stalks! Much more than just a walk in the corn, our maze paths challenge even the most confident visitors! Professionally designed and cut by MazePlay, this is the only one in Minnesota.  Our paths are just 4 feet wide and give you a great hedge

labyrinth feel ~ especially early in the season when the corn is green!

The ”Wild & Free” design for 2017 has two mazes within the design to fit ALL ages.  The large maze has 3.2 miles of paths and is a little more difficult for those that want to challenge themselves - or their family and friends! The small maze has 1.4 miles of paths and is an exciting challenge as well.  Both of these mazes have 6 checkpoints to find and punch your ticket with a unique shaped paper punch. We also have a short one-way path for the littles ones. Average time to complete the both mazes is 1 to 1.5 hours.

And YES - we do give you a map!!

Back for 2017:

The scratch off treasure hunt game is within the large maze! Find all 6 checkpoints, use your clues to select the best place to scratch your card to compete with your friends to collect the most treasure! There are 24 different cards so that you all have different odds/outcome in collecting that treasure. Come check it out!

Within the small maze  is the game FSI,  “Farm Scene Investigation”. Farmer Joe is missing, there was an incident and it appears to be foul play. Collect the evidence at 6 HIDDEN checkpoints within the small maze to find the weapon, the suspect, and the location of where the crime took place. Solve the puzzle and receive your

FSI badge sticker!

FSI (Farm Scene Investigation) was featured in 2015 on “Finding Minnesota” by Mike Binkley from WCCO TV. Check it out here: “Mysteries in A Cornfield”

Farm Scene Tracks for the little ones! Find 6 clues along a short one-way path to find out which animals stole farmer Joe’s pie.

The Shafer Corn Maze features a Farm Animal display, an Adrian Fisher Rope Maze, Human Foosball,  Corn Bag Toss, and other yard game activities!

All of these activities are INCLUDED  with your admission! Our goal is to provide a “park like” atmosphere for your family to enjoy without the extra charges.

Picnic tables are available so you can relax and sip a soda while taking a break or while waiting for friends or family. As always you are welcome to bring your own picnic lunch or birthday cake! Snacks and beverages also available to purchase on site.
